embedded graphics in Word template

Is there anyone that can tell me why the graphics in my Word docs become so
big?

I have made an e-mail template file for a client of mine. I used some
corporate graphic elements such as logo etc. Because it is meant for emailing
I managed to keep the template quite small (250 kb)

My problem is that when I create a new doc from the template and save it in
order to email it the doc becomes over 2 Mb. And there seems no significant
difference in quality.

The problem is related to the graphics I know cause when I skip them from
the saved doc the (text)file is then only 12 kb.

I asked this question earlier on this week but no one answered
unfortunately. Hopefully now someone will. My client becomes impatient and I
really don't know the answer or the solution in an other way.

Thanx Rob

Hi Rob,

What format are the graphics in that you're inserting, how are you inserting them and what is the file format you're saving in for
email. Not all of the file formats can compress graphics as well as the .doc file format.

Dear Bob,

I have inserted the files through the menu "insert/picture/from file". The
graohic files I used were in jpg and I also tried in bmp. I saved the file
from the template into a regular .doc file.

What I should say maybe is that I used the Apple Macintosh for the creation
of the template. It's funny but on Apple my .doc files stay the same size.
It's only on the PC that it turns into these big files.

Hopefully this is enough for you to help me out

Thanc very much Rob
