Embedded Hyperlinks and Email Addresses

Having problems with Excel that's new to me - i'll start a new workbook but
will find cells that have embedded email addresses of my vendors. I can't
tell that these addresses are there until I go to that cell, and it opens up
outlook!

Tried to write macros to remove but not working - any advice?

If the material is in a new workwheet, the material may be in a template or
personal.xls that automatically loads when Excel starts. Either fix the
autoload or select all the cells in your fresh workbook and clear them.
