Embedded linked object difficulty

I am trying to find out why I get an error when I embed a
linked Word doc in a Word doc in Word 2002. It also
happens on linked Excel files in Word doc. I get the
following error dialog box when I send it to other people
and they try to open the embedded linked object:

Microsoft Word can't start the application required to
open this object. An error occurred and thsi feature is
no longer functioning properly. Would you like to repari
this feature now?

Click Yes or No



After clicking No (because I know the app is ok), this is
followed by the dialog box:

The server application, source file, or item cannot be
found. Make sure the application is properly installed,
and that it has not been deleted, moved or renamed.



Click OK

It seems to work fine if I don't link the object.

The only other time I've seen this error come up in a
document is when the server application simply wasn't
present, or the file type association was damaged/missing.

I recommend running the repair when the box comes up (even
though you know that Excel is okay, Word obviously doesn't
know!)
