Embedded Movie Speeds Up Upon Slideshow

I'm using Powerpoint 2003 and the movie I've embedded as an opener to my
presentation speeds up on playback. The original movie is 10 seconds long,
doesn't have a problem playing in WMP, and was converted to AVI from a MOV
file with a dvix codec.

When playing it in the slideshow, it lasts maybe one second long. I have not
changed the settings to the movie via Powerpoint or anything at all.

How do I make it so that the movie plays in its intended form? Is it the
codec, the file format, or what? Thanks.

DivX and the MCI player (not the Windows Media Player) used in PowerPoint
don't always play together nicely. Assuming you have conversion software
I'd suggest using any other codec than DivX.

Just to get you running, you might want to install PFCPro and use it for the
two week trial (fully functional) and it won't cost you a thing.

The problem is powerpoint which seems very picky with videos.
The is only one thing that definetely work - WMV.
You can try trialware VidCrop in order to convert your video to WMV extension.

Sorry but you are just plain wrong. I understand you feel compelled to push
your product but you should at least have the decency to understand the
issues and try to actually help users instead of trying to sell your product
as some cure all snake oil.

I use PowerPoint 2003 and for years I have had a recurrent glitch in playing
back linked-to-file AVI movies. I normally use the TSCC codec, which gives
smaller files and better quality than many other codecs. However, when I show
a presentation by clicking on the icon I created on the slide, movies often
start to play, then quit prematurely, and I have to click on the icon in
PowerPoint again to play them, this time successfully. The same movie
playback never seems to fail a third time, but this could be just the law of
averages. I would be interested to know if anyone has any idea why this
happens - I tried these pages before with no luck.
