embedded objects are links

We have a user that when she opens a Word doc that has
embedded objects it shows it as a link to click. When we
view the same doc on another system we can see the object
from the doc. I'm sure this is a setting change but I
can't find it.

Try pressing Alt + F9 to toggle off the view of field codes.
