When opening a new word file, it is not blank, but has lyrics from a
song my wife found on the internet. I can delete it and start the
document, but I would rather get rid of it all together. Suggestions?

Do not open Word.

Use Windows File Explorer to locate and delete any files marked
normal.dot -- they may be more than one, and they are likely all
located deep inside your C: drive ( something like C:\program
files\microsoft office\office 11\word\templates).

When you reopen Word, a fresh, blank version of normal.dot will be
automatically created.
