embedded program(notepad) is showing hour glass....not opening

ms word doc has one embedded program xxxx.sql and the editor associated with
it is notepad. clicking on the embedded file hangs....hour glass and nothing
happens.
Pls help how to open the embedded program in txt editor.

One of my "matras" in such occasions: Word is not a good "container" for
objects of all sorts (grafics, sounds, certainly not Database files), at
least not for original files. If you can, get yourself the sql file
before it was inserted into Word (I wonder why one would want to do that
....).

Probably, the file is so large that notepad cannot open it (at least not
in a reasonable time).

That said: have you tried opening the editor of your choice and
drag'n'drop the file from Word to it?

In order to edit an embedded object, the associated program has to be able to
function as an OLE Server. Notepad is not capable of being an OLE Server. You
could try associating the sql extension with WordPad or with Word, instead.
