embedded sound files

I received a .pps presentation with a sound file embedded, I have removed the
sound file and want to embed something different. Apparently only .wav
files can be embedded. Since the .wav file is 35MB I can't email it. The
sound file that I removed should have been about the same size. So I doubt
that it was actually a .wav file as it was a complete song played throughout
the 22 slide presentation. I was able to link an .mp3 file, but when I send
it, no sound arrives. I know the file is there because of the size of the
..pps file, why won't it play. Just for the heck of it, I deleted the .mp3
file from my computer and emailed the file to myself . It played just fine.
What gives?

The only audio file that can be embedded is a .wav but not all .wav's are
created equal. The file size can be dramatically reduced (as well as the
quality being reduced)by saving as an 8bit mono .wav...

Uncertain about the deleted and still played scenario. The one other option,
although with its own difficulties, is to embed the audio as a .swf (flash
file).

thanks......do you know where PP hides these sound files? I have searched
every way I know to find where the sound file that was originally sent is
hiding......no luck.

If it is a .wav or .mp3 you will see its animation settings on the animation
pane. Then you can do a select all on the slide to find the 'speaker' icon.
If it is a .swf/flash file, it does not show up in the animation pane and
you need to search slide-by-slide.

I personally use RNR's Fix Links pro to generate a report of all the
multimedia in a presentation, that among other things tells you exactly what
slide the multimedia element is on. There is a free, but uncertain of its

Don't know if it will help, but you can attach a wav file to the slide
transition. If you activate the task pane have a look there it should be
near the middle of the taskpane.
