Embedded spreadsheets and charts don't print in black and white

This is a common problem among my co-workers. When doing a presentation, our
standard format is a blue background. So, when in color, embedded excel
spreadsheet, charts and graphs show up in white.

However, to save on ink, when we try to print them in black and white, the
spreadsheet colors do not automatically change to black. Most of the time we
have to manually go in and change the colors and then manually change them
back to view them in color again. Sometimes we can't figure out how to get
them to show up in black and white at all (we'll change the fonts and
borders, but it doesn't "take" once we click out of the embedded object).

There must be an easier way around this, right?
