I saved a powerpoint presentation in which I embedded a song (WAV file). It
no longer plays during the slideshow. I also have it on a flash drive, which
no longer plays it either!
Steps to let music play through slides:
1. Display slide 1.
2. Click Insert -> Movies and Sounds -> Sound from File, locate the
folder that contains the sound file that you want, and then double-
click the sound file.
3. When a message is displayed, click Automatically.
4. Right click the sound icon, and then click Custom Animation.
5. In the Custom Animation task pane, click the arrow on the selected
item in the Custom Animation list, and then click Effect Options. Tick
from beginning under the start playing, at the stop playing option
tick after slides and input the 999.
After these, the music you add can be played all over the slides.
Way to embed the music:
Sound files in wav format larger than 100 KB (i.e. anything but a
short sound effect) and other file formats are linked to PowerPoint
presentation, when you Email the PowerPoint presentation, the linked
music will not be shown.
The differences between embed and link, please view:

Convert your PowerPoint presentation to Flash use some third party
presentation tools, PPT2Flash
http://snipurl.com/ppt-swf , for
instance. It can help you embed all the music in the presentattion.
You can send the Flash-based presentation to your flash drive.
