Embedding PDF in Word (as graphic)

Frank Lionette

I would very much like to be able to embed a single-page
pdf in word as a graphic, so that it is visible in the
Word document, not just as a hyperlink.

Is there a way to do this?

Office 2000. Acrobat 6. Windows 2000.

Acrobat 6 provides several options for saving pages in graphic formats
(JPEG, PNG, TIFF, etc.).

One possible solution is our pdf2vector software, using which you can
batch convert your PDF files to (Enhanced) Windows Metafiles, which
you can insert into Word as a scalable (and even editable) image
object. Vector graphics, raster images and font
text strings are all converted and preserved as such in WYSIWYG
layout, and you'll get optimal display and print quality. More info at
the URL below.

The benefits of a scalable vector format like EMF are lost when going
to a fixed-resolution raster image format like TIFF, GIF or JPEG.

If interested, you're welcome to send me a representative sample PDF
file for testing.

One of the easiest way to do this is to use the Graphics
select tool in which is available in acrobat reader,
select the page, then copy and paste to your wd doc.

The downside being that your pretty vector graphics get turned into a
fixed resolution raster image. You lose the ability to scale the image
without distortion, the ability to zoom in on details, the ability to
print the image at high resolution, the ability to edit text strings
and graphical features.

In a vector format, your image will automatically render at the native
resolution of the monitor or printer, meaning that you'll always get
optimal quality, even if you scale or zoom the image.

Especially for typically large and detailed drawings such as Visio
diagrams, these are very important features.
