I have some Visio drawings living in a SharePoint document library.
I can easily embed these drawings as linked objects using word. The link
points to the SharePoint directory.
In Visio 2003, I would like to embed drawings as elements inside another
visio drawing such that when the elements change all the drawings using the
elements reflect the changes.
When I embed the visio drawings using Insert>Object, I select the desired
drawing in the SharePoint directory. Visio cannot handle a link to a SP
directory, so it creates a temporary object on my local drive and links to
that.
I can overcome the problem by mapping the SharePoint server to a drive
letter, but this is not a solution that I can deploy to all users.
It seems that Word and Visio should handle embedded objects in a similar
fashion... am I hooped? Does Visio 2007 perhaps address this problem?
