embeded image problems

I ahve several word file that have embeded images in them. I have changed
the locatio nof the images and now when I try to load these word files word
locks up and just displays the hour glass. I am running word 2003 with sp2
applied. I am able to open the file in wordpad just fine. In wordpad the
text is displayed but no images. to be specific the image is our logo in the
header fo the file. The files were created from .dot templates. I am still
able to load the .dot templates with no problem.

Update: I can also open these files i office 2000 with no problems.

I have traced the issue to our file server. If I copy a file to my station
and disconnect from the network it opens fine. If I try to access it from
our file server
it locks word up. Some documents open, others do not. All excell and
publisher files open fine.
