Embeded Objects

Hi,

I have a problem with word which I cannot solve.
If I insert an embeded object it will not display. All I see is the {Embed
..... } command.
I can use ctrl+shift+F9 (I think) and the object frame appears with no
visible object. Basically a white box with black edging. If I double click
the object it turns black. If I choose edit picture then I can see the
object. When I close the window it disappears

If I cut and paste a web page no graphics will transfer only the { command }
will appear.

Any ideas? Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
