Emboldened letter at paragraph start?

shows how the section starts with a big letter emboldened.

Was this done manually (for example using a text box), or can it be
done automatically from within Word? If from Word, how can I do this?

Its Called a "Drop Cap".
Go to Format --> Drop Cap
