EMF conversion in Word X

In Word X, EMF pictures are chenged to a big red "X". Yet,
in earlier Word for mac releases, it works just fine. The
current fix is to open the document in Word 98 and save as
RTF, then reopen in Word X. There has got to be a better
way -- like download the EMF translator for someplace that
I cannot yet find. Thanks.
