EMF saved in word 2007 has screwed up fonts in word 2003

I have several graphics (20+) that I created in Excel'07 and imported into
Word '07 as EMFs, and the rotated (y-axis) labels look fine in word 07 but in
word 03 they are not rotated, instead they are vertically aligned and read
from bottom to top.

what's up with that? How do I make this 200 page document readable to the
rest of the world? why did I pay money for this headache?

You imported the Excel graphics into Word 2007 as emfs and they are fine.
How did you then pass them on to a Word 2003 document?

Is Office 2007 patched fully up to date?
