EML messages in Entourage 2008

Hi there,

I hope you can help me out here.
First. Can you use EML messages in Entourage 2008?
Second. How is this done?
Third. Can you use pre-formatted EML messages as a template?
Fourth. Mactopia used to have stationery templates in EML format that you
could download and use; this I believe was for Office 2004. I don't see
these on the website now so has this EML feature been removed? I downloaded
them in my 2004 version and cannot now locate same; however, as I've been
using 2008 for over a year now the 2004 version was removed a little while
ago.

I have some old EML templates that I used in Outlook Express 6. Can they be
incorporated for use into Entourage? If so, where do the EML files need to
be stored?

Any guidance and reference information much appreciated. Thank you in
advance.

Yep

Select a message in Entourage and drag it to the desktop.
You can drag it back (or double-click) to re-import it.

Wellllllll I sort of guess, though I've never tried.
You could create a draft and use it over and over again as a sort of
template though.

The site has been revamped and they siomply might have removed the
optional download from the site.

Not sure....
They sure aren't stored in a specific location that Entourage would see
as a Template folder if that's what you are thinking about.

See this page for options:

Another option:

I'm not sure if this would help you, but you could use one of the third
party applications that insert text using a shortcut. You could have a text
file and call it "welcome" for example. You would save the text file and
assign a shortcut in one of the applications like SpellCatcherX, TypeIt4Me,
Typinator etc. To insert in a message you simply type the shortcut.

Insert text automatically into a message (Part One)

Hope this helps!

Barry Wainwright came up with the idea.
Hi again,

Thanks for the info that you have provided. Is there a web site that
describes how to use the EML format in Entourage? I have some old Outlook
Express 6 EML formats that I wondered about using in Entourage, adapting
them from my former Windows system to my current Mac. When I talked about
templates I meant to indicate that they are more likely stationery
templates. My oversight. What I'm basically after is a way to use these
EML files in Entourage. Will it work? Where should the EML files be
stored? Can they be stored in a Templates folder that I have on my .Mac
e-mail account?

Thanks again!

You drag the .eml to Entourage and they open there. You can then copy
the content to a new Signature in Entourage and save it for later use.

Corentin

he problem is that he wan't complex HTML in the sig (containing a table
definition). This is not possible in Entourage. Even if you manually
edited he sig file to add the table definition, it would be lost when
the signature was copied into a new message editing window, since the
HTML editor in Entourage cannot handle complex HTML.

Please send feedback to Microsoft on this. Use the 'Send Feedback' item
under the 'Help' menu in any Office application. The more people that
request such a feature the more likely it is to be implemented.
