Empty Drop Down Menus in all Office 2003 Apps

Hi there,

I am trying to help my parents sort a problem they have with Office 2003 on
Windows XP. The drop down menus in all the Office 2003 Apps are blank. The
applications work in other respects - typing, keystroke shortcuts, toolbar
shortcuts.
I have tried reinstalling from the CD, which worked for a while, but then
the same empty drop down menu problem happens after a while on all the apps.

Does anyone know of this happening, and if so do you know how to correct it?
