empty fields in Insert Object

Hi,

In Microsoft Word, when I insert an object via Insert > Object command,
under the Create New tab, there are many fields that are empty with no
text. Is there a way to remove these? Can I selectively remove the
objects that I never end up using, anyway?

Thanks,
- Eli

Hi Eli,

Corel Products, especially WordPerfect have been known to place object data in the Windows registry without showing a title for
them.
If you insert one of the 'blank' with 'display as icon' it will generally give you a title for that object type in the Word document
(and then you can delete it again). In some cases you'll find that they won't insert in Word but you'll get a dialog box at that
point to help you name and search for it.

Word is basically reading the registry for these. While you can edit the registry to remove or rename some of them, it's possible
that the owning application will then put them back again as they were.

Thanks. Do you know where I would find these in the registry? I know I
don't have WordPerfect installed, so it's due to some other programs. I
did a search in the registry for Equation Editor hoping it'll have the
other things, but nothing relevant showed up.

Hi Eli,

No, not specifically. You may want to ask in either the Windows or WordDev newsgroups as to how that Insert Object dialog is
populated. If I recall correctly it's not all in one spot in the registry.

You can try clicking on the 'show as icon' choice as you select the blank ones and it will often show you the name of the item that
is blank in the list.
