empty image space

Dear All,

I am using microsoft word 2003 and having a problem with captions. I have
about 30 figures in my technical report and I am using figure caption within
the text body. However, sometimes when I open the file I normally find an
empty shaded box (as if it is an empty space for an image) that before the
caption field in the text. Later I found that this is an extension to the
caption files as If it created a large files space by itself. This happen
occasionally when I update fields. Any suggestions?
