enable/disable macros message does not display

Kevin

The enable/disable macros message does not display when I open my .doc file from my home PC. However, it works fine from my employer's PC. I suspect I may be missing one or more References

The following References are currently active

Visual Basic for Application
Microsoft Word 9.0 Object Librar
OLE Automatio
Norma
Microsoft Office 9.0 Object Librar
Microsoft Forms 9.0 Object Librar

Any ideas

Thanks

Kevin

Check your macro security level.

That message only appears if the macro security level is set to Medium. If
it's set to high, macros are automatically disabled; low they are
automatically enabled.

Anyone ever have trouble with the message still appearing
when the security level is set to low? I'm using XP and
Word 2002 service pack 3, double checked the security
level is low and the message continues to appear. Any
ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Paul

Hi Paul

You also receive this message when opening a document/template that contains code but the
location of the document/template is neither of the locations specified by
Tools>Options>File Locations>User template or Workgroup templates.

So you'll either have to change one of the above on your home PC (use Workgroup as it's
probably the safest) or live with the message (which is what I do!).

Setting macro security to low is a _bad_ idea. I would only do it on an
isolated computer where no documents come to the computer from outside and
with no Internet access. I don't have such a computer.

Try putting your templates in one of the trusted locations (and keeping your
code in templates rather than in documents).
