encoding problems in Word 2002

I export an Access 2000 report to Word 2002 using Access 2000 Runtime. The
report which has both Romanian and Russian letters looks fine in Access. (I
can view it before exporting it.) However when exported to Word it replaces
certain letter in the Romanian to characters I'm not familiar with and it
makes the Russian become total gibberish. I have tried to change the
encoding on the Word document but that does not work. I have international
font support installed on my computer and I run Multilanguage and Proofing
tools in these language as well on my computer. Does anyone have any
suggestions? Thank you.

Probably a silly question, but are you using the same font in Access and
Word? Find out what the font is in Access, highlight a bit of text in Word
and apply the font. Try copying some of the gobbledy-gook from Word and
pasting in Access, apply the font and see if it comes out correctly. If this
works ok, then it's just a font problem with word.

Make sure the font you are using in Word supports Cyrillic :)

Thank you for responding. I'm just getting back. I look at the font in Word
and it is the same as in Access - Arial Unicode MS. However when I highlight
a word that has a Romanian character that does not show up correctly it shows
no font name at all. Do you know what this means?

The font I'm using is Arial Unicode MS. It shows up correctly in my Access
2000 document but not in the Word 2002 document when it is exported.

I'm not sure if this is relevant or not, but I have found that, in mail
merging from Excel, if I use the default OLEDB connection method, I get all
characters but lose number formatting; if I connect via DDE, I get the
correct number format but lose double-byte Unicode characters. Perhaps this
is an OLEDB vs. ODBC issue?
