Help - all of a sudden, starting today, whenever Entourage tries to sync with my (e-mail address removed) Hotmail account, I see the following error message: HTTP error. Access to the resource is forbidden. Can someone please tell me what is wrong and how I can resolve this error? I can access my email just fine when I log in directly into MSN.com. Thanks!

or_peb I had the same problem. I downloaded a trial copy of ms office 2008 (I was using 2004) and the new version of Entourage through the pop connection works.

While this isn't an answer to your problem, you'll still receive errors
in a few days when Microsoft disables DAV (HTTP) access to your account
on September 9.

You need to switch ASAP to POP access.

My HTTP access to my Windows Live Hotmail account has already been disabled and now I have no further reason to continue to use Windows Live Hotmail.

I paid MS for the ability to be able to access my Hotmail account from Entourage (or Outlook at work) and that ability was the ONLY reason I have stuck with Entourage. So unless MS comes up with an "Outlook Connector" for Entourage, so I can see and access the folders in that account, then it's time to cancel the find a different service that allows me IMAP or similar access.

Bill,
I printed your instructions and the screens that I am accessing do not match the screen shots in your document. For example, under "Account Settings," I don't see anything after "Sending mail." And under "Options," I do not see anything under "Additional Headers" such as "Server options," "Partially receive messages over," etc. I am using Entourage 2004; are the screen shots that you sent me from Entourage 2008? This is very frustrating; appreciate any quick recommendation that you can recommend. Many Thanks.

Thank you Diane for taking the time to reply.

I already use Gmail and was using the labels/folders to organize things there. I really like Gmail, but the problem is that I have years and years of important email on my Hotmail account. I was thinking of moving them to the Gmail account, but until I had an idea a few minutes ago, it would have been an incredible pain in the backside. My idea is to using Outlook in Fusion, installing the Outlook Connector and then dragging the messages from Hotmail to Gmail. Problem solved... or at least it will be once I complete the task. :)

Thanks again!

Robert

Be sure that you're creating POP account manually and not letting
Entourage 2004 try to automatically create your Hotmail settings for
you. They won't work because Entourage 2004 has not been updated to
configure Hotmail using POP.

While the article I pointed you to is not something I wrote, it looks
correct. It was written using screenshots from Entourage 2008, but you
should see similar for Entourage 2004.

Bill,
Yes, it worked - Thanks! I set up a new POP account (new title but everything else is the same.) Now how do I delete the old Hotmail account? One last unrelated question, do you know if Mac Office 2004 have any compatibility problems with Snow Leopard?

Hi,
Now how do I delete the old Hotmail account?

Go to Tools>Accounts, select the old Hotmail account and delete it.

There have been no reports so far that would indicate that Office 2004 does
*not* work with Snow Leopard. You only need to make sure to install Rosetta
(which is not installed by default), as the applications in Office 2004 are
PowerPC-only.

Thanks Michael. Everything is working now but Entourage is only loading part of the email message and I need to take another step to download the whole/complete message. Is there a setting that I can use to tell Entourage to download the whole email message the first time? Thank you.

Hi. If the message is only partially downloaded, check Tools>Accounts,
double-click your Hotmail account and switch to the Options tab in the
window that opens. Make sure the option "Partially receive messages over xx
KB" is *not* checked. If that does not solve your problem, post back and
describe exactly what you see on your screen and which other step you need
to take to download the complete message.
