Encrypted messages cause sometimes a temporary freeze

Outlook (2003, SP2) freezes for minutes if an encrypted e-mail item is just
touched, or double-clicked. This applies however only for the main, initial,
Outlook window. If the same item is visited and/or opened in a new (say
INBOX or
find) window, this situation does not occur.

Is there an explanation or, better, a remedy?
