Encrypting an Access d/b

P

pvp

This is a good one!
I encrypted an Access d/b and thought all was well. Just
to check, I opened it with WordPad and found I could read
contents that were unencrypted. Any expolanation?

The d/b is in Office 2000 and data and code are in
separate d/bs. This separation of data and code took
place after I had encrypted the d/b, when it still all
together. Could the data splitting have cancelled the
encryption of the data?

Thanks.

Yep: it wasn't encrypted! Access encryption encrypts all but a few bytes of
the file. If you found any significant amount of readable information, the
db just was not encrypted.
