encryption and certificate management

I am using outlook 2003 and I am a bit dissapointed in the options regarding
digital certificates, digital signatures and encryption. Not all my contacts
have certificates, but some do. E-mail to some of these people should always
be encrypted. In my opinion, if I send an e-mail to these people, Outlook
should always encrypt these messages by default, or offer an option per
contact to always do this for the given contact. Selecting "always encrypt
messages and attachments" will cause Outlook to show warning messages for
every e-mail sent to a contact without certificate.
Secondly, Oulook Express can automatically save contacts when you reply to
an e-mail. It does this with certificates included. I cannot find such an
option in Outlook 2003. I need to add all certificates to contacts manually,
or save a contact manually when I receive a signed e-mail from them.
Finally, when a certain e-mail from a contact does not contain a digital
signature, while Outlook does have a certificate for this person, it should
show a warning message in my view (or at least have an option to show a
warning). The e-mail could well be an impersonation attempt...
I hope that someone will read this and does something with it. Certificates
are in my view an excellent way to make e-mail more secure. What I propose is
to make optimal security possible, configurable if not by default and easy to
use. I hope that these changes can fit into the bigger Microsoft security
plans.
