I've been battling with this for about a week now.

If anyone has any advice on the following, you could just about save my life.

Originally I tried to sync my new Blackberry Bold with Pocketmac & Entourage 2008. I'd literally upgraded my 2004 to 2008 at the same time too.

Anyway, after a lot of sweat and stress, I realized that 2008 & the blackberry were not compatible.

So then, I decided to downgrade back to 2004. Realising that I couldn't use just use the same Microsoft Office Database of 2008 for 2004, I had to just bite the bullet and use a previously backed up version of 2004 database.

So, what I'm getting are the following:

(remember I have 2008 still installed, as I want to use word & Excel)

so, on boot up of my Mac, I notce the 2008 office notification comes up? any way to stop this?

Also, MY DAY pops up and I quit it.

Then, on boot up of 2004, I get this message:

An unknown error (4362) occurred. I then OK that, and I am still able to use Entourage.

I rebuilt the database, but its still happening, in fact, it initially asked me to rebuild again for some reason.

Once I can figure out how to get through teh above issues, I am going to attempt to install Pocketmac, presuming, it can sync Entourage with my Blackberry Bold?

Thanks for your time.

Also, MY DAY pops up and I quit it.

At the bottom of the My Day window, click on the right most icon for
preferences. Uncheck "open at login."

In System Preferences --> Accounts --> Login Items, be sure there are no
Microsoft Database daemons listed.

The rebuild errors could be false errors. Try moving the Microsoft User Data
folder to the desktop and let Entourage create a new one. Next move the
Office 2004 Identities folder back. Launch Entourage 2004 and see if your
Identity opens OK.

The PocketMac for Blackberry sync tool is not working with Entourage
2008 yet. See the following link:

thanks Diane , I've tried taking the Microsoft Folder out and letting it create a new one and then putting it back, same errors though.

I wonder if I should export to an rge file? and then reimport?

also, re 2008 & pocketmac, looks like they are working on it. in teh meantime, do you think 204 is compatible?

its taken me about a week to get to this point, but I have downgraded Entourage 2008 to 2004 as pocketmac say its compatible with:

Macbook Pro (mine is 2.33ghz Intel Core Duo)
3GB ram
Entourage 2004 (latest version)
Blackberry Bold.

The Entourage 2004 identity is a completely new one, as I thought this would help. And all I have done is import the contacts, calendar and notes etc, from the previous version before. Getting no ENtourage Database error messages, so this should be fine.

It synced the contacts first time round, and they all appear on the Bold.

Then I synced the Calendar second time round.

Then I entered a new diary date on my BlackBerry Bold adn tried syncing again to check it was syncing fine.

And it was hanging for 30 mins, halfway across the bar at Calendar.

One strange thing I notice is this:

there are two drives that come up for the blackberry 1 & 2? is this normal?

Also, if I attempt to force quit, I notice in the "Force Quit Applications" :

IsyncRimCalendar for a while shows up as (not responding) but then after about 10 mins it closing automatically, then 5 mins later, pocketmac finishing. As I said above, this from start to finish is about 30 mins!

So, looking at the Calendar in Entourage, that entry I entered on my blackberry is in there, which is great. but now I have just noticed a load of duplications. Why is this? Gonna try and delete those now by using this script for calendar:

<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/faq_topic/duplicates.html>

Its still running so will have to wait and see what happens.

I can't run a system System Report, sorry, as it won't produce one, how come this does not work? looked on the desktop, nothing there.

Also, I am hoping that Tasks and notes sync ok.

So, Can you give me advise please:

Why is it taking so long to sync?

Are you talking about Entourage 2004 or 2008?

its 2004.

I deleted calendar events from 99 to 2007 to see if that helps and ran that script too after I did that. It seems to do the trick.

then I rebuilt the database, just finished.

Launched 2004, adn it seems fine, but then I have noticed that the same calendar events are in there again!!!!!

So here I go again! what the heck is going on?

Going back to 2004 won't solve your sync issue. Both 2004 and 2008
have sync issues which Microsoft is aware of. I use Missing Sync from
Markspace with my BLACKBERRY Curve and my Palm TX and both work well.
I read a Bold user over on the Markspace forum got his Bold to work
with Missing Sync. Tech and the forums are very responsive there.

You will encounter sync issues using either Entourage - dups etc.
Sync'g one module only is the only way I've found to produce reliable
sync's (I've written about this extensively here and other forums). If
you find this too much hassle and some users do, even though it isn't
as powerful you might want to just use the Apple apps and say
Markspace's own Notes app which is fine. They also sync with Yojimbo
notes but users over on the forums seem to be having trouble with this
app.

Anyway, good luck.

I wish there was a simple solution, as there seems to be far too much messing about.
