End of show black screen problem

I have a single slide with three menu choices hyperlinked. When a user
selects a menu choice, it opens a seperate linked slide show.

The problem is at the end of the individual linked shows, the show ends with
a black screen with the words "end of slide show, click to exit" at the top.
If you click on the black screen, it properly ends the show and returns to
the original menu slide and then you can select the next menu option.

This problem can be resolved by changing the "End with black slide" option
inside PowerPoint, under TOOLS, then OPTIONS. This works great on my machine,
but when this show is taken to another machine, most have this option
checked, thus the black screen problem returns.

Eventually I plan to distribute to a large number of independent users, so
this is a problem.

If you can assist, I would greatly appreciate it!

Add a link to the last slide of the secondary presentation. Link to "End Show".
This will close the presentation and return to the menu without showing the
black screen. I would also turn off the slide transition options (on mouse
click and automatically) on just that last slide, forcing the user to click the
link to End Show.

I did as suggested and it works, but the issue still remains if a user
advances using the space bar or mouse wheel. Is there a work around for this?

Not unless you want to set your slide show to Kiosk, which is a good solution.
However, *ALL* navigation must be provided by you. In other words, only the
Escape key will work, so, for example, you have to provide a "Next" button on
every slide if you just want them to view the slides sequentially.

Beware. If you use Kiosk mode, which is a great solution if you want all
your navigation to be by clicking on buttons and hyperlinks, you should
watch out for this. Whether or not you are running in Kiosk mode depends
on how the first presentation is set up. That is, if you have a MAIN
presentation that links to presentation A, and you start in MAIN and
click on a hyperlink to A, A will ignore its Kiosk setting and inherit
whatever was set for MAIN. That is, if MAIN is set in Kiosk mode, A run
in Kiosk mode, and if MAIN is not in Kiosk mode, A will not run in Kiosk
mode.

While others have given you some fine ideas, I'll suggest an alternative.
In your first pressie (the menu slide) insert the other presentations. Do
NOT confuse this with inserting slides. Go to your insert menu, select
object, and then navigate to your presentation you want to insert.

Once this has been done change your links to the inserted presentations as
required. The advantage here is that you never "end" the presentation and
you no longer need all the navigation buttons.

I like that method too, but be aware that it won't work in the PowerPoint 2003
Viewer, so users will need to have PowerPoint installed on their systems.
