Endnote 7 corrupts cursor in Word X

I'm using Endnote 7.0.0 (Bld 155) with Word X v.10.1.6 on a G4
Titanium with OS X 10.3.5. In Word, the pointer never turns into the
usual i-beam cursor, but remains the arrow cursor no matter where it
is placed over the document. If I remove the file "EndNote 7 CWYW Word
X" from the ...Office/Startup/Word folder, the problem goes away. Of
course that also disrupts the connection between Word and EndNote, so
not very good. I have written to ISI, but no feedback yet.
Has anyone else observed this and found a workaround?

Did this just happen when you ran the 10.1.6 updater, or was it true under
Office 10.1.5 as well?

It happened also prior to the update, using Word X Service Release 1.

ISI has now replied: "This is a known issue with Endnote. We do not
have a solution to this issue at this time." I guess one can always
hope for a fix in Endnote 8...

Thanks very much for the information. Supposedly EndNote 8 will be out this
fall...

There is a sorta workaround--you don't need to have the EndNote add-in
installed to put the raw EndNote fields into Word, it only needs to be
installed to actually format the doc. Since my workflow requires only
infrequent formatting, I found it feasible to quit and move the add-in in
and out as necessary, by means of an applescript. It's a toss-up which
would be more annoying to deal with.
