Endnote 7, Word 2004 workaround; reinstall Word X.

Recently I installed Office 2004 plus the updates in the chairman's
front offfice (Mac OSX 10.2.8). Since then the Word 2004 Endnote 7 Tools
don't function.

www.endnote.com states that only Endnote 8 is compatible with Word 2004.

Is there any work around for Endnote 7 and Word 2004?

Our secretary would like to reinstall Word X. Would it be better (wiser)
to uninstall Word 2004 or can I safely have both Word versions on one
Mac?

I run both X and 2004 on my machine under 10.3.8 and they both work fine. I
kept Office X because there's

A) I didn't have Endnote 8 until recently and

B) There's a bug in Powerpoint 2004 that messes up fonts.

So I was using Word X/2004 and Powerpoint X/2004. I never ran Excel X and
2004 but my guess is that it would work fine as well,

Regards,
Dave Birch.

Yeah. Some things changed in Office 2004 as far as plug-in support goes
and EndNote 7 never was updated to take it in consideration

They rewrote the plug-in for this version. It integrates well now with
EN8.

Nope...

Before I got EN8, I had Office 2004 and Word X on my Mac. You can write
the manuccripts in Word 2004 (I copy and paste references from EndNote
to Word anyway so you don't need the plugin there) and when time came to
format (or unformat) I opened the manuscript back in Word X for the
occasion. No major problem there. The only thing with having two
versions of Office is that you have to make sure Office X is set not to
use the Notifications (the ENtourage daemon) since you might then end up
with the notifications version X and 2004 running at the same time.
