Endnote numbers fail to update

My endnote numbers are not automatically updating - what can I do to change
this?

Are you sure that they are true endnotes, inserted via the Insert
menu, and not typed in? You can check this from Edit>Go To. If the
endnotes are not recognized by the Go To feature, they are typed in
(and must be recreated via Insert>Reference>Footnote).

Another thing to consider: Click Insert>Reference>Footnote. Click the
Options button. On the All Endnotes tab, verify that the numbering
options are what you want.
