I have a problem with EndNote 6.0.2 and Word X on MacOS X (10.3.2).
I moved my homedirectory to another volume. When I have the EndNote
files in the /Applications/Microsoft Office X/Office/Startup/Word Word
quits immediately after startup. This problem can be "solved" by
trashing the Carbon Registration Database (CRD) in
~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft before starting word. But this is rather
much work each time I start Word and it delays the start up.
I tried a workaround posted by Corentin a few months ago. This
workaround consists in creating a temporary user on my bootdisk, launch
Word as that user and move the CRD of that user to my own
/Library/Preferences/Microsoft. However, this does not work as it
should. When I start Word I get a message from EndNote saying "A COM
Exceptions occurs" en when I try to start EndNote from within Word Word
tells me "The Visual Basic Editor cannot be opened" and EndNote refuses
to start. In addition I have several other problems, including an empty
thesaurus and no access to graphs.
Any suggestions for solutions?
