Engineering Dimensioining stencils

Q

Hi can anyone please tell me how to get the Angle to count clockwise and not
anticlockwise when using Angle Center, Angle Uneven or Angle even.
When using these stencils moving right to left begins at 0 Degrees and
moving left to right (Most common way to count angles starts at 359 and goes
down.
so on a 90 degree angle starting at the top of the page I get 270 degrees
moving left to right instead of 90.

Thanks,

You just have to reposition the dimension line. You can ALWAYS measure an
angle in the counter-clockwise direction. You just have to start at the
clockwise edge. The problem you are having is that you are locating the 1D
handles (the green handles) on the "counterclockwise-est" edge of your
angle. You need to start your dimension on the "clockwise-est" edge.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the reply.
If I place the default Angle center from the master stencil it only counts
counter clockwise the green handles appear on the verticle line.
The dimensioning line than counts the angle from Right to left. I cannot see
how I can move the dimensioning handles other than to rotate the whole object.
I would like the dimensioning line to count the angle from Left to right
standard useage. Can you please treat me as a dummy and step me through how I
can get the correct setup for this stencil.
Thanks,
Martin

I'll just comment that mathematics convention (and thus drafting, vectors,
phasors, trigonometry, etc) has angles rotating anti-clockwise. Visio
implements this correctly.

Permo,
I am sure that in some part you are correct but while I was at school a 90
degree angle was from the vertical line to the horizontal line providing 90
degrees. TOP TO RIGHT ANGLE!!!
I also use autocad for my design work this allows me to move the angle from
a anti clockwise dimension to a Clockwise dimension by specifing the vertex
line.

As I am currently working on a magnetic bearing drawing, It would benefit me
if I could get an angle line that counts in degrees as a compass does ie
Clockwise starting at the fixed 0 degree loction.

The only angle dimensioning tool I can use in viso is the Engineering
stencil, I am sure it is not hard to change this but would like advise on the
way to do it..

PS Electrical phase rotation is also calculated from the vertical 0 degree
position.

Finally sorted it or at least a work around.
Placing a Horizontal line above the angle I wish to measure.
Glue the Yellow handle of the vertical line on the Dimensioning stencil to
the Horizontal line. This then prevents it from moving and hey presto the
angles now count clockwise.
Sorry guys a newbie to the Visio scene took me a while to grasp some of the
functions.
