Chris Walker

I can't get Word to Spell Check using the English (UK) Dictionary. if I go to
Preferences and choose the English (UK) Dictionary it continues to Spell
Check in English (US) i.e. Colour (UK) is always Spell Checked to Color (US).

Has anybody got any ideas.

That's really a surprise, since I as taught in school that color and
Colour are corrrect spelling in US ans well as theater and theatre The
use dictionary should not correct spelling on thoses words.

In any event, have you set the dictionary then quit out of word to save
changes to normal then reopen Word and see whether the new setting took.

If it's "fixed", don't "break it"!

You need to make sure that your text is tagged as UK English, to tell Word
to check it that way. Assuming this happens on all documents, go to Tools |
Language, select UK English, and click Default. That will change the Normal
style (the default in new blank documents) to UK English.

You will have to fix already created documents individually. To add the
language tag as direct formatting, select text and use Tools | Language. If
you will be using/editing the older documents for a while, it's probably
better to change the style definitions instead of applying direct
formatting, via Format | Style, Modify, Format Language.
