Are you asking a question or making a statement? If you carefully re-read
the FAQ, you will see that step #1 requires you to create a Team Names
lookup table before you proceed any further. Did you create a Team Names
lookup Table as directed? After you complete the rest of the steps, the
system will remove the link between the Team Name field and the RBS lookup
table, and will attach the Team Names lookup table to the Team Name field
instead. Following the steps in the FAQ will have NO EFFECT WHATSOEVER on
the RBS field, as you state. Let us know if this helps.

i was asking a question, but i didnt understand the FAQ. For some reason I
thought it was telling me to switch uid's between the incorrect and correct
look up table ...if that makes sense.

My mistake, thanks for the clarification this is very easy now and it worked
for me.

Just to let you know, the reason for the FAQ is because many years ago, one
of our staff accidentally attached the Team Name field to the State lookup
table. When we discovered the lack of a Team Names lookup table, and then
problems this might cause, our staff member decided to figure out how to
resolve the problem of the wrong lookup table attached to the Team Name
field.

There is no default way to detach the wrong lookup table, so the FAQ
documents the SQL database "hack" he figured out to resolve the problem. I
think the "hack" is pretty elegant, don't you? And by the way, it wasn't ME
who accidentally attached the wrong lookup table to the Team Name field!
Nor can I take credit for writing the FAQ, but we are more than glad to
share our pain (and solution) with you! :)

Well I am glad you all shared it (along with all the other info you all
share) as well, Thank You very much! Perhaps you can help me with my initial
issue. You see I am working in a dev envorinment and i wanted to go through
the process of using a team resource. I used the RBS lookup table and
attached it to the Team Name field (i thought i could change it afterwards)
and created a team and team resource. (you all have another FAQ that I used
to guide me through this.

My problems is this, when I publish a project with the team resource
assigned to any task, then go in as a resource and sefl assign team tasks,
the updates page's just hangs in "loading..." The updates page goes back to
normal if i open the proj, remove the team resource, and publish. So i went
back through the FAQ on setting up team resources (to make sure i read it
correctly ;) ) to no resolve. Now when i assign the team resource to a task
in the proj, the resource gets a error page when trying to go to "assign self
to team tasks".

I've been searching blogs, but haven't heard of this problem. Any ideas?

I have not seen this issue, nor do I have the foggiest on how to resolve it.
I doubt seriously that your problem has anything to do with the
wrongly-linked RBS lookup table, however. On the other hand, let me confirm
that you did do each of the following:

1. You populated the Team Names lookup table with the names of teams in
your organization.
2. You do see that the Team Names lookup table is now correctly attached to
the Team Name field.
3. You opened the Enterprise Resource Pool and created Generic resources
who will represent teams.
4. For each Generic team resource, you set the Team Assignment Pool field
value to Yes and saved the Enterprise Resource Pool.
5. You opened the Enterprise Resource Pool and checked out human resources
who belong to teams, inserted the Team Name field in the Resource Sheet
view, and then selected a Team Name value for every human resource.
Furthermore, you made sure the Team Assignment Pool value is set to NO for
every human resource.
6. You saved the Enterprise Resource Pool.

Let us know and we will try to help.

OK, you have done well, my friend! I don't have any idea what is causing
your problems with Team resources and the Self-Assign Team Tasks page.
Would you be willing to repost the question as a new post in the newsgroup?
That will give the others a chance to determine if your problem is technical
in nature, and not related to the setup of the Team resources. If you are
willing to do this, skip the part about starting our with the RBS lookup
table attached to the Team Name field. Instead, explain how you setup the
Team Names lookup table, created the Generic resources as Team resources,
set a Team Name value for every human resource, etc. And then state what
you are seeing on the Self-Assign Team Tasks page. Then perhaps our
technical folks can help you. Sorry I can't be of more help. :(

Jenn:

One thing you might try is to set all the publish fields in the project to
"NO" and then publish. Wait for the job to complete and then set them all
back to "YES" and publish again.

J

@Dale - will do.

@Gary, thanks tried that already plus i tried removing the team resource
completely from the schedule then adding it to a new schedule and i have the
same results.
