we have three different product keys. I entered one and installed office on
my mac. I then went to install it again on a different mac but accidently used
the same product key. Now only one computer can use office at a time. How
do i change my product registration key

With all Office applications closed, delete the OfficePID file. You can
find it by doing a search like this:
<http://www.mcgimpsey.com/macoffice/graphics/find.gif>

Then, delete this visible file:
~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/com.microsoft.Office.prefs.plist
OR (for Office X)
~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Microsoft Office Settings (10)

After emptying the trash, launch any Office application. You should be
prompted to re-enter your CD key.

hi, thanks but that didn't work. I tried to put it in the trash and it makes the
noise that it makes when something is put in the trash but nothing appears
in the trash and i can't empty it. I don't know what to do

Which "it" are you talking about - Word Settings or OfficePID? Are you
working from an admin account? Do you have permissions set to allow you
to delete the file?

The most foolproof way to fix the problem is to run the Remove Office
application on the Install CD, then reinstall Office.

the it i'm talking about is the officepid file. I do not see the option to
uninstall office from the cd. I have looked everywhere but nothing gives me
that option

Which version of Office?

In v.X it's in the Value Pack folder on the install CD.

For Office 2004 it's in the Additional Tools folder in the Remove Office
folder on the install CD, or you can look the Additional Tools folder of
your Microsoft Office 2004 folder.
