Entering apostrophe or quote marks causes error message.

I'm not at the computer where this happens, so I don't recall the exact error
message, but when I enter apostrophe or quote marks (when I'm editing a Word
document prepared by someone else), an error message pops up with something
like "Size must be between -1.5 and 7 pts". The surrounding text is normal,
like 10 or 12 pt. The only way I can get the apostrophe/quote is to use the
"insert symbol" command. I'm guessing that when the document was originally
drafted, the author must have some setting that causes it, but I don't know
what that setting might be? Any suggestion? Thanks.

Sounds to me like a rogue AutoCorrect entry trying to format a superscript
at an illegal size.

Look for, and delete, the autocorrect entry.

Cheers
