Entering Custom Property Data

I have a problem with entering and reporting of data attached to shapes via
Custom properties: -
1) If I change the Duration type to "Duration" and the format to "[h]:[m]
Visio will not accept entries in the format e.g 1:15 (1h 15m) but demands
numeric entric, so I have to enter 1.25 2) If I create a report I get a
figure in ed (elapsed days) - sometime with bizarre numbers. What am I doing
wronmg? Am I expecting something that is not possible?

Looks like a bug, doesn't it. I've never used durations before in Visio, but if the format
specifier is h:mm then I would expect to enter data in that format, not h.mm
I can see a reason in that data in h:mm format cannot be used within calculations, but
1:15 could easily be displayed but 1.25 used internally.
I've just tried it in Visio 2010 Beta and it is still the same. I notice, also, that the
flowchart shapes no longer have Duration and Resources amongst their default Custom
Properties, sorry, Shape Data. They have Start Date and End Date instead. Sorry to be
blunt but someone didn't think about that one first. Hmmm, even those dates don't use the
correct localised date format but assumes US mm/dd/yy format.

Hi Paul,
Many thanks for this - I've posted the question in a number of places and
not had any response until now. Anyone wanting to use Visio for flowcharting
is almost certain to require to hold data against processes - stereotypically
"how long did this take?" - I suppose there has to be a workround somewhere!
Thanks again,
Barrie
