Entering Dates in Cells

I would like to be able to enter a date as 6-03, for
example, and have the date display as June-03. When I
enter the date as 6-05, I would like it to show as June-05
as in June 2005, but it shows as June-03 being June 5,
2003. Is there any way to format a cell so that when I
enter a value as 5/06, it will display as May-2006?

Do a 'custom format' of 'mmm-yyyy'. Works in XP.

If you do a custom format of mmm-yyyy, and then enter 5/06 as the OP said, XP
will display May-2003 if your regional settings are set to US.

To have that input display as May-2006, one must use an event driven macro.

XP (and previous versions of XL) does not change how it interprets input based
on the cell format. And it will select a DAY, if possible, before selecting a
YEAR. So 5/01-5/31 will be interpreted as May 1 - May 31 of the current year.
Whereas 5/32-5/00 will be interpreted as May 1, of the year nn32-nn99. There
are settings to determine which century nn refers to. In Windows XP, that
setting is under Regional Settings.
