Entering images into database

In the past I created a data base including bitmap images.
Now I want to enter more records and cannot figure out how
to insert the images. I go to the proper cell in the data
base. I select "insert object", this gives a window in
which I indicate it is a bitmap and references a file
containing the image. Instead of coming back
with "bitmap" in the cell as is the case for all prior
records, it lists "package". When I look in the forms
view for this record I find a thumbnail sized image and
listed below it the file name. Of course what I want is
the full sized image.
I am working with Office 2000 and Windows 98 second
addition.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have found that adding images to a database via an input form puts
the correct reference to the image in the table.
