Entering sub numbers..like in a chemistry formula

I am a college student that has to use word for assignments. I am trying to
insert a number. The thing is it's not in the right spot. For example...i
want to type CO2 but i want two to be smaller? This is probably confusing,
but if there are any chemistry people out there who know what i'm talking
about please help.

Hightlight the number 2 (or whatever you want to be subscripted) and click on
Format | Font | Subscript.
