Enterpricse wide Global file - how to make it local again

Hi,
I work in an environment where there is a corporate global file for
MSProject stored on a server. I have a highly customed global file with many
filters, tables, macros etc but these cannot be added to the corporate global
file. I have permission to use my own local copy of the global file and even
though we have reinstalled MSProject several times, Project always ends using
the corporate global file rather than the local global on my PC.
How do I get Project to "look" at my local copy and not the corporate global
file?
Thanks

Hi Alan,

You may wish to post your question to the Project Server Newsgroup where
you may get a more rapid response.

I hope this helps.

Alan of ABC,
About six years ago, I was in a similar environment (not a true Project
server environment) and was able to get around it by creating my own
shortcut.

You may be able to simply place your global in C:\Documents and
Settings\{your ID}\Application Data\Microsoft\MS Project\11\1033. If you can
place your global there, it may allow you to double-click a project file and
have it open your global.

If that doesn't work, you can either modify the shortcut to start in the
folder where your global.mpt file is stored or create a new shortcut to
winproj.exe, again, specifying to Start in the folder where your global
resides. You will need to open Project using that shortcut, but once Project
is running under your global, you can browse using Windows Explorer and
double-click.
