Rayis:

Inasmuch as your Thursday is only a seven hour day, and your standard work
day is set to 8-hours, you'd need to set the work value on a task that
starts on Thursday to be only seven hours if you want to finish it the same
day.

Thanks Gary & Mike for your valuable inputs
I am planning to figure out this issue on the following way

Change the basecalendar as follow

Sunday to Thursday 8:00 AM to 4:00 P
Friday & Saturday Holida

Under Tools | Option | Calendar Keep the same setting as I mentione
befor

For tracking purpose we are using
Hours of work done per day or per wee

So we will instruct the team members to enter only 7 hours of Actua
work during Thursdays.

Please let me know this is the right way or no

Your problem can be solved very easily by doing the following:

1. Select the task in question
2. Click Window - Split
3. In the bottom pane, select a resource, set the Units to 100%, and set
the Work to 7 hours
4. Click OK in the bottom pane

You will see the task scheduled correctly on Thursday, starting at 8:00 AM
and finishing at 3:00 PM. Because your Hours per day value is set to 8
hours, Microsoft Project assumes by default that tasks with a Duration of 1
day will span 8 hours of working time. When you assign a resource using the
above steps, you tell the software explicitly how many hours of Work must be
performed on the task. Please be aware, however, that the software will
recalculate the Duration at .88d for this task only. Can you live with
that?

Also, if you have a task that spans 5 days Duration, you should enter the
Duration as 1w instead. Doing so will tell the software to schedule the
task to span 39 hours of working time as specified in your Hours per week
setting. Hope this helps.

It is a good solution
But it is bit difficult to convince our project leaders (big heads
It is easy for me to convince the team members
Do you expect any issues if I am using the way which I mentioned

BTW thans Mike for your input
