enterprise caluculated fields vs. local calculated fields

Quote from Dale Howard in a post concerning enterprise calculated
fields:

"Did you try recalculating the project by pressing the F9 key while the
project is open? One of the little quirks of enterprise custom fields
is
that the values in the field won't appear until you recalculate the
project
for the first time after the field is displayed in the project..... "

Does it make sense then based on what Howard says to use local custom
text fields only for red/yellow/green lights (and force use of project
templates that include them) so that there is no chance of recalc
problems? The red/yellow/green lights are for senior mgts' benefit,
not the individual project managers necessarily.

Andy --

When you create projects in Project Server and then LATER the Project Server
administrator creates an enterprise custom Task field, you must open each
project and press the F9 key to calculate the values in the new custom
field. After saving, publishing, and closing each project, you will not
need to press the F9 key again on each project as actions you take in the
project will recalculate the project automatically (changing Duration,
assigning resources to a task, entering actuals, etc.).

Therefore, I would encourage you to forget about trying to create local
custom Task fields and stick with the enterprise custom Task fields. Hope
this helps.
