Enterprise Codes

Quick question - I am trying to find a "down and dirty" distinction when to
use Custom Enterprise Fields and when to use Enterprise Outline Codes. I am
looking to learn about the difference between the two.

If you want the information to appear in the OLAP Cube for use in Portfolio
Analyzer views, you must use custom enterprise Project or Resource outline
codes for this purpose. If you need a value list that is hierarchical with
multiple levels of indent, use an outline code rather than a text field with
a value list. If you want to use a formula and/or stoplight indicators,
then use a field and not an outline code. Just a few ideas. Hope this
