Enterprise custom field lookup from Sharepoint list

We want to create an enterprise custom field to group our projects into
"product releases". However, we'd need a table of infomation about the
product release such as name, release date, code freeze, etc. So my idea was
to create a custom Sharepoint list with this info. But I need to know if it
is possbile to reference a Sharepoint from an enterprise lookup field, in
other words the lookup for the field would come from the Sharepoint list.

If this is not possible, then are there other suggestions about how to model
this?

David,

If you store the meta data for the product releases as Project Enterprise
Custom Fields, then you can group/filter projects in PWA Project Centre Views.

I don't see a need to use a Sharepoint list, unless I'm missing something.
