Enterprise defaults for archive settings & pst storage locations

M

Mark Eaton

We manage hundreds of Users who are always changing their archiving defaults.
We'd like to have a corporate standard and lock it down when we deploy PCs.

The same is true for .PST files. Users are creating multiple .PST files in
leu of archiving and we'd like to stop it. These are options that my Email
Administrator should have available.

To a large extent, this is possible with Group Policy Objects. These articles are relevant:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;321907 -- the same policies do apply to Outlook 2003, in the Office\11.0 key.

Also note that Exchange 2007 + Outlook 2007 support managed folders to give you more control over the message retention cycle.
