Hello,
My manager ask me to have a report with all the assigment for all the
resources in one shot. The best way I found was using a new "view type"
Portfolio Analyzer and create a pivot table including the resources, their
project assignments and work.
He was very happy with the report, but I found out that I need to go to
"Update resource tables and OLAP cube" and update the "cube" to maintain the
report updated. I fix the time for update the problem is that my boss wants
to have the "report" updated several time during the day. There is any way to
do this? Is there maybe any other way to perform the report requested without
using the Cube?
Thanks in advance for any help you could provide me.

you would have to do it manually as the day is the lowest granularity in
the automatic build feature. For many companies with big databases it
takes several hours for the cube to fully build.

Now the important question: Why is your manager needing to see updates to
project level resource allocations several times a day? Are project
managers actually making significant changes to this data within their
projects more than once a day? What decisions are supported by this data
and are actions actually taken several times a day with regard to resource
allocation to projects? If they are I would highly suggest a detailed
examination of the process. About 90% of the companies I have seen that
have demands similar to your manager only really made real decisions about
resource allocations on a weekly or even monthly basis and only wanted the
data 'because they wanted it'. This has all the ear marks of a 'report
happy manager' that consumes data faster than they actually need it for
making real decisions.

You can pull the same information using the View Resource Assignments view
that you access from the Resource Center. This view is size-limited for
performance, so it may or may not work for you out of the box.
