Enterprise field does not populate on import

I am importing projects from Excel.
I've created a Enterprise Custom Field in Project Server "Task Type".
I launch project pro and open the excel file that contains the column "Task
Type".
In stepping through the wizard the import map finds the new enterprise field
and maps accordingly with no problem. (The preview below the mapping setup
shows the new field with correct data populating the preview).
Finish the import, insert the new field in my project view.
Field is BLANK. No data populates it at all!
Any ideas?

Are you certain that the data types are identical?

Gary,
They are both TEXT fields. In Project Server it's defined as Entity = Task &
Type = TEXT.
What's weird is the data shows in the import preview screen. I've tried on 2
different workstations with the same result. This could be a potential
"show-stopper" for the project I'm working on.
BTW - If I map the column to a non-enterprise field ie: Text1, the data
imports correctly.

Pete:

As a workaround, you could map to the standard field and copy the column of
values to the enterprise field. I'm not certain why you're having this
problem.
